Stephanie Parent is a writer of gothic poetry and prose.
She is also an editor and a dance instructor.
She joins Vince on the show to discuss her debut gothic, horror, novel "The Briars," which is based on Stephanie's experience of working in a commercial dungeon in L.A. as a submissive and dominatrix--referred to as a "Switch."
They discuss the poetry and nuance of inflicting pain on another person, the freedom achieved by receiving pain as a submissive--which she compares to pushing her body to the limit while engaged in ballet dance.
They also discuss her previous work of poetry, "Every Poem a Potion, Every Song a Spell."
