Have you ever experienced burnout? If yes, you’ll appreciate this episode. If no, you’ll appreciate this episode. You may be in the midst of it & be too burned out to know, & if you’re not, it may help you avoid it.

Listen in for a relatable discussion with my friend, the inspirational Eric Recker, dentist, success coach, keynote speaker, workshop facilitator on performance & burnout, two-time author, & recovering triathlete. Oh, & he’s a husband & dad, too.

Eric’s life took an unexpected turn when he was faced with a near-death experience due to a rare medical condition, a sobering moment that forced him to confront his priorities & reassess his approach to life. Through it, he gleaned the invaluable lesson of embracing the present moment & cherishing meaningful connections over fleeting achievements.

Now, he shares his experiences & insights & strives to support individuals & teams in achieving their goals while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

In this episode, Eric & I discuss:

  • Going through burnout rather than around it
  • His identity as a dentist & others’ perspectives on being anything other than that
  • Sleeping challenges, chest pains, heart palpitations, & panic attacks
  • Doing more & working harder
  • The build-up of burnout
  • Third grade punks, kickball, & life-long perfectionism
  • The ongoing challenge of doing less
  • The selflessness of taking care of ourselves
  • The finite inflow & outflow of dams & humans
  • Expecting more of ourselves than others
  • The importance of gauging our tank & ensuring we have something in it
  • Daily self-awareness & line dancing
