It is often assumed that girls today grow up with high levels of confidence in their abilities to fulfill their aspirations. However, girls, both tweens & teens continue to face particular pressures on their self-esteem, self-identity and self-confidence. Claire Shipman is a co-author of the New York Times bestseller "Womenomics: Work Less, Achieve More, Live Better" (Harper Business, June 2009) and the new book, "The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance – What Women Should Know" (Harper Business, April 15, 2014), which provides an informative and practical guide for women to help them understand the importance of workplace confidence and how to achieve it. As veteran journalist, Shipman covers a range of politics and social issues, and in recent years has focused on issues that concern women and women in the workplace. Shipman is a regular contributor to “Good Morning America” and other national broadcasts for ABC News. She joined the morning broadcast in May of 2001 and is based in the network's Washington, D.C., bureau. Shipman regularly interviews influential newsmakers for the network. It is often assumed that girls today grow up with high levels of confidence in their abilities to fulfill their dreams and goals. However, girls, both tweens & teens face constant pressure everyday on their self-esteem, self-identity, and self-confidence. Shipman, a very confident woman and mother herself, shares how writing the book has helped her understand her own daughter's confidence level and has "changed how she parents.
