Episode 4: The Goon
Manage episode 298334700 series 2947685
The mid 90s were a bad time for wrestling, the then WWF had just come off of a federal trial, WCW had a new president every year seemingly, and both promotions and others were facing a stark reality that wrestling was dying in the eyes of America. That meant trying to bring people in at any cost, including creating characters that were easy to understand and easy to relate to, like a man so violent for hockey he joined the WWF. The Goon debuted in 1995 and wrestling was never changed as a result of it.
Grumm is joined by his friends Rawb (@urealms) and Empyre (@EmpyreTTV) to talk about the goon, hockey, and stumble upon other topics like The Montreal Screwjob and Medusa dumping the women's title in a trash can.
