Dr. Theresa Montaño and Dr. Guillermo Gomez have been putting in the work for an Ethnic Studies curriculum since 2007. We cover the basics of what Ethnic Studies is, what it should look like in our schools, and why our students have needed this curriculum for decades. The State Board of Education recently accepted a very "watered down" version of ES curriculum due to push back from some very powerful forces, and our guests do not shy away from discussing how this happened. Because the SBE has diluted and co-opted this hard work, Montaño and Gomez discuss ways that teachers and districts can move forward with a liberated Ethnic Studies curriculum.
