Professor Murtala Aderemi Bidmos is a retired professor of Islamic Curriculum Studies and Inter-religious dialogue at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). During his about four decades in service, he was Dean of Education at the university and was a Fulbright Scholar among other things. He is our guest in this maiden episode of the Education Podcast.
We talked about issues surrounding teacher education, government funding and policy in education, his achievements as Dean of Education, UNILAG, the challenges with traditional Arabic schools, also known in Nigeria as Ile Kewu or Tsangaya, the recent abuse of students at an Arabic school in Ilorin, education reforms and other things.
