Join me for the conclusion of my interview with Maxwell Smart.
In this episode I am talking to Maxwell Smart who was just nine when the war began. Born in the Ukrainian town of Buczacz - then part of Poland - had his life turned upside down in 1939.
When Maxwell went into hiding, among others, he and a friend helped save a baby. His friend died a few days later and Maxwell carried the guilt for decades over his friend's death.
His amazing survival story was written into a book that was released on May 2, 2022 by Harper Collins "The Boy in the Woods".
Maxwell is also a very talented artist who paints a lot about freedom and escape as ongoing themes in his explosions of color.
