I’ve had other startup founders talk about how they put on conferences to cement their status as an authority in their space and build a community around their brand, but Alex is different because the conference is his business. The reason I thought this would be interesting is because since Alex is so involved in the SaaS space, he has applied the lessons from other startups to how he runs and grows his conference. And the results show he has been right on the mark. In our chat, we talk about how Alex went from blogger and podcaster to conference host, what it took to get that first conference off the ground, how he doubled attendees in the second year, and how he plans to double again next year. These are lessons in pricing, hiring, and scaling that apply to any SaaS startup.
