The Los Chapitos are a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, led by the sons of the infamous drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán—Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, Ovidio Guzmán López, and Joaquín Guzmán López. After their father's arrest and extradition to the United States, they stepped into leadership roles within the cartel, focusing heavily on the production and trafficking of synthetic drugs like fentanyl, which has become a major source of revenue.
Known for their ruthless violence and strategic use of modern technology, Los Chapitos have maintained and expanded their father's empire, despite internal conflicts within the cartel and external threats from rival groups like the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). They are also known for their flamboyant public personas, often showcasing their wealth and power on social media, which has made them both icons and targets in the criminal underworld.
Their rise has made them significant players in the global drug trade, particularly in the United States, where they are seen as a primary source of the fentanyl that has fueled the opioid crisis. Despite their power, they face constant challenges from law enforcement and rival factions, making their future uncertain.
