In this entertaining episode, Joe and I sat down with the dynamic and accomplished Professor Jim Stockwell from the McHenry Community College. With a wealth of experience in teaching communication and film study classes, as well as coaching tennis, Professor Stockwell has touched the lives of many students throughout his career, including our very own Joe who was his former student back in 2014.

The heart of this conversation revolves around Professor Stockwell's remarkable ability to help individuals conquer their fear of public speaking, which I personally appreciated. Rather than adhering to a traditional hierarchy of a student teacher dynamic, he believes in working with his students as equals, fostering a more fluid and productive learning environment. He is also a huge advocate for community colleges, just like I am! As a result, many of his students have triumphed over their anxieties and found their voices.

With an impressive background in broadcasting and hosting radio shows, he is also a published author and uses his book in the classroom….or cave. We refer to them as modern caves in this show lol

As the conversation deepens, Joe and Jim reminisce about the positive impact the professor had on his life. They recount memorable experiences and humorous anecdotes, making this episode an engaging and heartfelt exchange.

Towards the latter part of the episode, the discussion delves into the importance of film study. Professor Stockwell's expertise shines as he dissects major films, offering some unique analyses that movie enthusiasts and casual viewers alike can appreciate. From classic masterpieces to contemporary gems, the conversation showcases the influence films have on our lives.

With a spirit of warmth and camaraderie, this podcast episode is a fun and inspiring journey. You will be left with a renewed appreciation for effective communication, a deeper understanding of the power of film, and the importance of stretching our minds and questioning everything.
