In Genesis 2:7, Breathed and Breath are Two Different Words in Hebrew. What Does Each Mean?
Genesis 2:7 The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed (H5301) into his nostrils the breath (H5397) of life.
H5301 - breathed
נָפַח nâphach a primitive root; to puff, to inflate, blow hard,
KJV - blow, breath...
H5397 - breath
נְשָׁמָה nᵉshâmâh from the root (נָשַׁם); a puff, or intellect.
KJV - inspiration, spirit...
Their meanings:
Nafach = Blow - more material.
Nasham = Inspiration - more non-material.
