This is the Fail First Podcast, where we take a look at the massive failures that shaped many massively successful business leaders, entrepreneurs, inventors, creators, artists, musicians, authors and others achieving greatness and creating history.

Thomas Edison is a well know American inventor that created a few big hits, it the process of “making it big” Thomas Edison registered over 1000 patents, mostly inventions that were not very successful and went unnoticed. In a true Fail Forward fashion, Thomas Edison never gave up, keep creating and making mistakes. This created massive success for Thomas Edison with inventions like the light bulb and phonograph.

It’s no doubt that Thomas Edison has created and is history. A poor student and not a good productive worker Thomas Edison did not fit into the “normal world” of the time. Thomas Edison was a truly passionate entrepreneur that wanted to make a living off of his inventions while re-investing other profits into the creation of more inventions, this is evident with the amount of patents in his portfolio. Thomas Edison is a true proponent of failure, failing fast and failing forward!

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

On this episode, we take a look at failure and rejection in the life of Thomas Edison

  • Was not a good student in early life
  • Fired from first 2 jobs
  • Known for a handful of inventions, has over 1000 patents
  • And more, of course, we look at his success too!
