In this episode, I have a candid conversation with Kimilyn Poulson. Kimilyn shares with us her experience being adopted and raised by caucasian, devoted Mormon parents in Utah. She shares her struggles carving her identity in the midst of people who did not look like her. She strived to conform which took a toll on her mental health. She shares her LDS mission experience in the South, where she found herself a minority, as a Mormon. Kimilyn shares her faith transition story and the issues she had put on a shelf growing up in a strict Mormon family. She shares her discoveries of overt racism from LDS leaders' writings, reading the CES letter and deciding to come out to the world on Facebook when she chose to depart from the LDS Church to find her authentic self. Today she enjoys her new found freedom and being an advocate for the LGBTQ community. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefaithtransitionpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefaithtransitionpodcast/support
