The Canada Day edition of The FAN Morning Show live on location from the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 344) continues into its final hour as the clock creeps closer to the opening of NHL Free Agency. Hosts Ben Ennis & Brent Gunning start by discussing what could be the most Canadian thing to do today around listening to the latest signings and moves made by NHL teams. They bring on hockey insider Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports to get a sense of what he’s hearing or sees coming down today (07:10). The trio dive specifically into the Maple Leafs and what lies ahead for them today and the offseason. They look at if the belief is that the Leafs will sign Chris Tanev to a contract and what that could look like as well as where things lie currently between the team & Mitch Marner. In the back end of this hour, Ben & Brent check in with Sportsnet’s own David Amber on how busy he will be today hosting Signing Season on the network (27:40). The trio discuss what we already know and the busy week that was around the draft and free agency. They look at what names are out they’ll be keeping an eye on today as news drops; taking some time to specifically discuss the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The trio look at if Steven Stamkos could be being pushed out of Tampa while Jake Guentzel is brought in and what names are available to help bolster Toronto’s blueline.
