Welcome to TFAP's The Edge of Change, presented by Nike. A series of conversations with athletes, innovators and designers who are pushing boundaries, creating ideas and advancing change for women in sport.

Emily van Egmond has football in her blood. Born and raised in Newcastle, she was immediately immersed in the sport. Her father represented Australia and it was clear from an early age that Emily would soon follow in his footsteps. Like most female athletes of her generation she played with the boys until well into her teenage years, but that all stopped when the Matilda’s came knocking and she made her debut in 2010 at just 16 years old. Football has taken Emily all over the world. While currently plying her trade for the San Deigo Wave in the US she has had stints with clubs in Australia, Germany, Denmark and the UK and all that experience will absolutely come in handy in 2023. Van Egmond has her sights firmly set on the Matildas and their big task on home soil in July.
