Christina Exie is a fashion designer, brand curator and innovator. She first hit the scene after her triumphant win on the fashion reality hit Project Runway in 2012. In 2019 she combined her love of fitness and street style launching the bold athletic wear Exie Studio - technical activewear with a streetwear aesthetic.

Christina has so much knowledge and experience in the retail and fashion industry and shares a tonne of gold nuggets throughout this episode.

We start off by discussing Christina’s approach to sharing her story and being visible while building a brand. She explains how this helps your ideal client understand the context of what you’re doing and how it can bring credibility.

When you’re just starting out, it can be hard to forge a path forward. Christina’s honesty and authenticity really shine through in our conversation and she shares how she launched a brand fuelled by her passion and the ways she made it work in the early, bootstrapping days. Christina also shares how the vision of her ideal lifestyle drove the creation of her business and her three core values - kindness, consistency and integrity.

Christina lives by rituals and schedules. She shares what a day looks like for her, and how she uses Sunday for scheduling the week ahead.

What are the gold nuggets in her recipe for a successful and sustainable long-term brand? With significant experience under her belt, Christina shares her take on retail strategy when deciding between online, bricks and mortar or wholesale. She also highlights the importance of understanding the values of your brand in order to inform your forward direction.

With a new brand just launched and a ‘tightening of the bolts’ for Exie there are exciting times ahead for Christina. We were stoked to have her share her wisdom with us, and think you’ll really love this one!
