On this week's episode of the Free Thought Project Podcast, Jason and Matt talk with David, better known as San Joaquin Valley Transparency who has one of the largest auditing channels on YouTube. SJVT is a part of a new breed of courageous cop watchers that combine guerrilla journalism and police accountability, called first amendment auditors. First Amendment audits are largely an American social movement that involves photography or filming a publicly funded institution such as police departments, Military bases, prisons, ect. The audits, which are often posted to YouTube, have become a form of activism and are non-violent and a lot of times uneventful, however some encounters have escalated dramatically resulting in arrests, violence and settlements. David explains the history of auditing, gives his personal insight as well as tips and suggestions on how to pick up a camera and audit in your own area.
