Today I’m talking about a 2015 member of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. He is one of 89 coaches in the Hall of Fame. If you attend a basketball game at New Mexico State University’s Pan American Center, you will see the court is the Lou Henson court. Know this: there is another Lou Henson floor, and it is at the University of Illinois. For us who were there, when the Pan American Center opened in the fall of 1968, it was called the House that Henson built. Lou Henson started his lifetime of basketball by playing all sports for Okay High School, a small school about 50 miles southeast of Tulsa. When inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, he was quoted as saying, “When I began throwing a ball of rags through that handmade hoop on the side of out barn, I never could have imagined that the game of basketball would bring me to this point in my life. I have been truly blessed in many ways.”
