Episode Outline
Ramifications from the Ukraine War are being felt globally. Not merely by intensifying the potential for conflict in other regions, but also by undermining peace and mediation efforts. This is the case with the Iran Nuclear Deal, or JCPOA, which has been at risk and remains controversial to many, including Jason Brodsky. Questions covered this time include:

  • Since the Ukraine War began, how have sentiments changed around the feasibility and desire for a renewed deal?
  • Is there a genuine appetite for the Iranian Deal or have they been hoping to squeeze the US and others for concessions?
  • How should we assess the Russian role and positioning in negotiations given their activities and interests elsewhere?
  • Were efforts to renew any deal futile, what would be the best alternative - a new deal or a new sanctions program?

For this episode, your host Pyotr interviews Jason Brodsky, Policy Director of United Against Nuclear Iran, or UANI, since 2016. Previously, he was Research Associate and Advisor to Aaron David Miller at the Wilson Center & Senior Middle East Analyst at Iran International. Recorded on Twitter Spaces, Jason then takes questions from the live audience who challenge him on some of his points and perspectives raised during his conversation with Pyotr.
