What does it mean to read literature theologically? Why is that important? What is the relationship between human imagination and attentiveness? How did God open the eyes of a man’s heart and place him at the epicenter of conversations that influence world leaders? This is the story of Dr. David Mahan.

Dr. David Mahan is a lecturer in Religion and Literature at Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music. A graduate of Yale Divinity School in religion and literature (1995) and winner of the Religion and the Arts Prize, he has focused on the relationship between works of the literary imagination and the tasks of Christian theology. He is the Executive Director of Rivendell Institute at Yale. David graduated from Miami University of Ohio, earned his Master of Arts in Religion from Yale Divinity School, and his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge.
