Song: The Sound of Christmas
Song by: The Fantastic Violinaires
Keyboard player: Gail Nobles
Podcast vocals: Gail Nobles
The Violinaires were a gospel group founded in 1952 in Detroit Michigan. One early member was Wilson Pickett who was with the group between 1955-1959. Following the contemporary trend of groups that switched their style to the more profitable R&B, he left to join the Falcons. Between 1965 and 2001, the Violinaires were led by Robert Blair after his death , you may have seen a variety of names. I’ve seen the name the Fantastic Violinaires in the 80’s.
I love their Christmas song, The Sound of Christmas. I play their song and the Temptations song Silent Night back to back from a playlist. I think they are the greatest Christmas songs. The Violinaires Christmas song The Sound of Christmas comes from Malaco Records album Gospel at Christmas Time.
You’re listen to a show about The Gospel Greats. I’m your host, Gail Nobles. Have a Very Merry Christmas!
