Hey Mama!

Recently, I've been dealing with prolonged stress which led to feelings of anxiety and burnout. I’ve since thought a lot about its effects on marriage and had to share!

While anxiety is characterized by feelings of constant fear and worry, making it difficult to connect with our partners, burnout is different.

Burnout can manifest as physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion, leaving us feeling drained and unable to engage in the emotional and physical aspects of our relationships. Burnout is a result of prolonged stress and anxiety!

It's important to remember - this is more normal than you think! Many of us are going through the same thing. That’s why it's so crucial for couples to be open and honest with each other about their struggles and to work together to find ways to support one another during this challenging time AND to protect their marriages from these external pressures.

Some tips to help alleviate the effects of anxiety and burnout on your marriage include:

  • Prioritizing self-care and making time for self-reflection
  • Communicating openly and honestly with your husband about your feelings
  • Making a conscious effort to connect with your partner, whether it be through a shared activity or simply spending quality time together
  • Finding ways to de-stress and relax together, such as taking a walk or praying.

Remember, it's okay to not be okay and it's okay to ask for help. If you or your partner are struggling with anxiety or burnout, consider reaching out to a therapist who can help!

With love and grace,

Beatriz Vargas
