In episode 10, we speak with David Cook, Kentucky Department of Education Director of Innovative Learning. David has helped bring to life a new vision from United We Learn, that involves community stakeholders and an adoption of a Portrait of a Learner.

David Cook and his team have an important role with the Kentucky Department of Education. From their website, it says “​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Division of Innovation is charged with incubating learning innovations to promote personalized learning for each and every student, with the hope that these new approaches to learning could be scaled in the future.​​​​​​​​​​​​​”

They are on a mission to bring about vibrant student experiences, accelerating innovation, and collaboration with communities. They call this the Big 3!

Listen in and learn about the importance of bringing in community stakeholders, including students, the importance of a Portrait of a Learner, and how this kind of measurement of student growth is superior and more equitable than state-mandated tests.
