Summary:

In this thought-provoking episode, we explore the crucial role that challenges and hard work play in achieving success, drawing powerful lessons from the biblical stories of Caleb and the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh in the Book of Joshua. We learn that while everyone desires an easy path to success, true growth and achievement come from embracing obstacles and doing the difficult tasks that others avoid.

Through Caleb's example, we see the importance of belief, faith, and consistent action in overcoming adversity and attaining our goals. In contrast, the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh demonstrate the dangers of relying on privilege and seeking the easy way out, ultimately leading to their downfall.

We discuss the idea that good things, such as wealth and success, are not inherently bad but should be earned through effort and perseverance. The episode emphasizes the significance of developing grit, determination, and the willingness to take on challenges head-on.

By becoming the kind of person who believes in themselves, takes consistent action, and refuses to shy away from difficult tasks, we can unlock our true potential and achieve the success we desire. The episode encourages listeners to avoid the pitfalls of the "easy button" mentality and instead embrace the struggles that lead to genuine growth and triumph.

Show Highlights:

[00:41] God's people are meant to have good things. But beware of the easy. And beware of the privilege, because easy is dangerous.

[02:20] The people of Joseph replied, the hill country is not enough for us and all the Canaanites who live in the plane, have chariots fitted with iron.

[03:26] Caleb goes and says, Moses promised to me, so you better give this thing to me. He doesn't wait for it to be handed to him.

[05:04] Challenges that you rise to bring growth, which then that growth brings success.

[07:01] Everything starts with who you are and who you believe you are. And only then can you do the things that are in line with that type of person, take the actions, and only once you take the actions, can you get the results that you're looking for?

[09:14] Caleb was the person who believed he did the action of the person who believed and then he got the results of the person who believes.

[10:36] Privilege is very dangerous. It's not bad. But it can be because privilege means you have an advantage. And if you rest on that, and you haven't developed the skills to actually have acquired that and earn it.

[12:53] As I'm teaching my kids, like my goal is to produce a lot of wealth and opportunity. As I'm doing that, I'm realizing, well, how am I going to still make sure that my kids develop the skills that are required to actually continue to produce that.

[14:19] The first takeaway here is beware of easy. Growth only happens in the challenges in the hill country.

[16:01] It seems in our like lack of wisdom, like, that's really hard, we should make it easier. And it actually is hurting. The thing like the life of the moth, like, you know, just doesn't exist.

[18:07] Caleb, you know, had had his strong belief. And then he went into Canaan was the spine came back with a good report and like didn't lose that belief and had the faith and all that kind of stuff, and then go and went and conquered.

[19:12] Momentum is a real thing. Like momentum is a principle in physics and it is hard to overcome the inertia. Getting momentum and building momentum and continuing momentum in the right places is important.

[21:48] Making something harder, requires you to dig deeper and actually create the success. And so I would encourage you like if you thinking that you're helping someone by making it easy for them, whether that's kids, whether that's that's your team, whether that's clients, especially clients, that's not helping them, it's actually hurting them, like the challenges.

[23:33] Don't rush it. And that's so hard for someone who, you know, entrepreneurs are not known to be patient people. Patience is important.

[24:39] Not rushing it is really hard for entrepreneurs, like not rushing it, it feels like you're like like, just against every every fiber of your being. But if you can not rush it and you can simply become the person be and believe the things that that person believes and then do like take the action, the hard things, the things that nobody else does, like, take that action with consistency.
