I had a great conversation yesterday with Dr. Melissa Briggs-Phillips aka MBP (I just made that up!) with Behave Forward, Next Generation Behavioral Health in Columbus OH. Our interview will be out in the next month or so on this podcast so keep your eye peeled! This convo was perfect timing for me because of where I am in my own personal journey. Many of Melissa's clients are middle-aged males, with variations of childhood trauma. Although she therapizes all types of clients, I can see why she does well with the male population. She has an innate ability to cut through to the core of an issue with a good balance of masculine and feminine energy. In my experience, when working with a mentor, coach, counselor, or therapist, I like them to be able to be soft enough that I'll open up but firm enough to call me on my stories... you know, the ones filled with B.S.! She didn't ask me to write this and it surely isn't a paid post, #oneday. I was simply struck by our conversation and wanted to share it with you in case you're looking for someone to connect with.

On this episode, I share about this thing that happens in personal development and recovery where things can get seemingly worse before they get better. In other words, you feel called or motivated to change in some area of your life and that thing you want to change gets harder to control. That is probably part of the problem... attempting to control the uncontrollable. I am at a place in my journey where I just feel raw, uncomfortable and, I wouldn't say lost, but I don't exactly see the light at the end of the tunnel yet!

If I have a message for you in this episode it is, if you feel compelled to work through some hard shiz in your life, then do it. If you've been putting of reaching out to someone or hiring a therapist, coach, or counselor, then do it. And, if you're in it and it's harder and more uncomfortable than you thought... well my friends, this is what being a responsible adult feels like, lol! You are not alone.

If you think of someone that could benefit from hearing this podcast, remember to share it with them and I would love to hear from you. Give us a review on Itunes, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere you listen to Podcasts.
