A proud alumna of The University of South Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor's of Art in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2008, Janet's journey has been characterized by dedication, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to the craft.
Janet's contributions to the city of Columbia as a broadcast journalist have not gone unnoticed. In fact, she's made such a significant impact that Mayor Stephen Benjamin declared February 23 as "Janet Parker Day" in the City of Columbia in 2018, recognizing her as a role model and community leader. Her passion for delivering news with excellence has earned her the respect and admiration of not only her peers but also the community she serves.
Currently, Janet is an Executive Producer for Queen City News, where she continues to make her mark on the industry. In this role, she collaborates with a dynamic team of anchors, reporters, producers, writers, assignment editors, photographers, and more to ensure that every newscast is not just informative but highly produced, captivating, and in line with the station's brand.
Her career journey has seen her take on roles as diverse as Senior News Producer and Evening News Anchor for WACH Fox 57 from 2014 to 2018. She's been the guiding hand behind reviewing scripts, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and upholding the highest standards of ethical journalism. Janet also plays a pivotal role in producing daily newscasts and actively participates in recruiting new producers, all while finding joy in the coaching and mentoring aspects of her position.
