THG interviews Stephanie Gainer, a 3D/assemblage artist from Charlotte, North Carolina, that creates sculptures by reconfiguring vintage dolls and nostalgic items. Her work blurs the lines between disturbing and whimsical, eerie and humorous, evoking strong emotional responses from viewers. Inspired by nostalgia, Stephanie rescues these objects from the landfill, giving them new life.
With a background in ceramics, she incorporates porcelain doll heads into her sculptures, crafting quirky mugs, vessels, and thought-provoking pieces. Join us as we explore Stephanie Gainer's artistic journey and the emotions she aims to evoke through her dark fairytale-like assemblages. Currently she is a member Charlotte Art League's artist space. Special thanks to Asylum Digital Recording & Mixing (Charlotte, NC) for hosting this episode.
