With the declaration of war on Germany by Great Britain, South Africa answered the call. The South African government was eager to expand it's borders and German South-West Africa was a neighboring province. In this neighboring province was a large number of Boers. All of the ethnic groups of South Africa fervently joined in support of their country. The blacks, Indians, Colourds and British. However a large portion of Boers saw Germany as the true ally and rose in rebellion.
