Rumored by the global press for years before actually taking place, Queen Marie of Romania's visit to the country finally took place during the fall of 1926. Notably for Evergreen State residents at the time, she would tour the still wild state of Washington and make appearances in places such as Spokane, Maryhill, the young and growing town of Longview on the banks of the Columbia River, and across Seattle, incluing a notable stop at Roosevelt High School. Her visit would include the dedication of Maryhill Museum, which actually wouldn't open until fourteen years after her tour, and the dedication of the Peace Arch Monument, both of which were heavily funded by the eccentric James Hill.
