In the 8th episode of “The Hockey Assist,” Nolan and Riley explain their one week absence (1:50) and talk about whether All-Star Game is a good idea, whether Draymond Green should be considered for that game, and the muddled state of the Western Conference playoff race in this weeks shoot-around (4:30). Then, they move into the big question of the episode: considering style of play, what is the state of the NBA game today (29:00)? They first look through the eyes of Charles Barkley to figure out whether the NBA today is “stupid a** basketball” and whether the over reliance on threes is damaging the sport, then they dive deep into a recent quote from Kevin Garnett to see if they agree with his analysis that the game is creative, competitive, and saucy.
