• The Florida Panthers acquired defensemanDylan McIlrath in a trade with the New York Rangers on Tuesday for defenseman Steven Kampfer and a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. McIlrath, the No. 10 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, cleared waivers on Oct. 28 and was sent to Hartford of the American Hockey League after playing one game for the Rangers this season. He played 34 games with New York as a rookie in 2015-16, finishing with two goals, four points and a plus-7 rating. Kampfer, 28, was a healthy scratch for 12 of Florida's 13 games. A fourth-round pick (No. 93) of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2007 NHL Draft, Kampfer has nine goals and 23 points in 134 NHL games with the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Panthers. • Jacob Trouba Signs, Finally! Restricted free agent defenseman Jacob Trouba agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets on Monday. The 22-year-old will make $2.5 million this season and $3.5 million in 2017-18. • Chicago Blackhawks rookie centerTyler Motte could miss up to three weeks with a lower-body injury, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday. Motte, who has three goals and three assists this season, was injured when he went into the boards during the second period of the Blackhawks' 4-3 overtime victory against the Dallas Stars on Sunday. • Carolina Hurricanes defensemanJustin Faulk is week to week with an upper-body injury, coach Bill Peters said Tuesday. Faulk had an MRI Monday. He did not travel for the rematch against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; MSG+, FS-CR, NHL.TV). Faulk was injured during a 4-1 loss to the Devils at PNC Arena on Sunday. He has three goals and six points in 11 games.
• Columbus Blue Jackets defensemanSeth Jones will miss three weeks because of a hairline fracture of his right foot sustained during a 2-1 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center on Saturday. Jones, 22, was placed on injured reserve Monday. He has three goals, six points and a plus-1 rating while averaging a Blue Jackets-high 24:14 of ice time in 10 games this season. • New York Islanders defensemanTravis Hamonic will miss 4-6 weeks because of an upper-body injury. Hamonic was injured blocking a shot by Edmonton Oilers forward Patrick Maroon at 12:13 of the first period in a 4-3 shootout loss at Barclays Center on Saturday. He played two more shifts but did not return after leaving the game at 18:16 of the first. In 12 games this season, Hamonic has two goals and five points, and is averaging 19:46 of ice time per game. The Islanders will recall defenseman Adam Pelech from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League on Monday, Newsday reported. Pelech, 22, has four points and a plus-3 rating in 10 AHL games. • The Buffalo Sabres will be without defensemanZach Bogosian for weeks because of a sprained MCL. "It's a knee injury, MCL, and it's more between a one and a two grade MCL sprain," Coach Dan Bylsma said. "It's weeks at this point." Bogosian sustained the injury during the first period of the Sabres 2-1 win against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday and left the game. Rookie defenseman Casey Nelson will take Bogosian's spot in the lineup and will be paired with Dmitry Kulikov against the Maple Leafs. • ForwardTyler Ennis of the Buffalo Sabres will be out for several weeks after having groin surgery Thursday 11/10. Ennis has one goal and one assist in 12 games. He played 7:33 in a 4-0 loss at the Boston Bruins on Monday and sat out a 2-1 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators at home on Wednesday. Ennis was limited to 23 games last season because of two concussions. The second came on Dec. 30, 2015, when he was checked by Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin. • ForwardNoel Acciari of the Boston Bruins is expected to miss four weeks because of a lower-body injury. Acciari, 24, has two assists and a plus-1 rating in 12 games. He played 6:23 in a 4-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, well below his average ice time of 10:00 per game, and didn't play in a 3-2 loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. In two seasons with the Bruins, Acciari has three points, all assists, 12 penalty minutes and 26 shots on goal in 31 games.
• ForwardJannik Hansen of the Vancouver Canucks will be out 4-6 weeks because of a fractured rib. He was injured during Vancouver's 6-3 loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday and has not played since. Hansen, 30, has two goals and four assists in 12 games. Last season he had NHL career-bests of 22 goals and 38 points in 67 games. In 549 NHL games, all with the Canucks, he has 101 goals and 228 points.

• Los Angeles Kings defensemanTom Gilbert has been suspended for three games, without pay, for boarding Anaheim Ducks forward Nick Ritchie during NHL Game No. 142 in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Nov. 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today. • Arizona Coyotes defensemanOliver Ekman-Larsson has been fined $2,000 as supplementary discipline under NHL Rule 64 (Diving/Embellishment), the National Hockey League announced today. NHL Rule 64 is designed to bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties. Fines are assessed to players and head coaches on a graduated scale outlined below:

• New York Rangers forwardRick Nash scored his 400th NHL goal against the Vancouver Canucks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Nash scored on the power play at 5:27 of the third period off a pass from Pavel Buchnevich that beat goalie Jacob Markstrom to make it 2-2. The Rangers lost 5-3. The 32-year-old has seven goals in 14 games this season. He had 15 in 60 games last season. Selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2002 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, Nash is an 11-time 20-goal scorer, eight-time 30-goal scorer, and has scored at least 40 goals three times. His NHL career high is 42, set in 2014-15 with the Rangers. Nash, who tied for the NHL lead in goals (41) with Ilya Kovalchuk and Jarome Iginla in 2003-04, has 400 goals and 343 assists in 936 games with the Blue Jackets and Rangers in 14 NHL seasons. Nash, who is the 92nd player to score 400 NHL goals, is ranked sixth among active players, trailing Jaromir Jagr (750), Jarome Iginla (613), Alex Ovechkin (532), Marian Hossa (505) and Patrick Marleau(484). • Playing in his 14th NHL game, 18-year-old rookiePatrik Laine (3-1-4) scored his second career hat trick(also Oct. 19 vs. TOR) and had a career-high four points when the Winnipeg Jets scored a season-high eight goals en route to a victory against the Dallas Stars. Laine has 11 goals and 15 points to lead the League in goals, two more than the next-closest players (Mark Scheifele and David Pastrnak: 9). He is the first player to score at least 11 goals in his first 14 NHL games since 1992-93, when three players -- including Teemu Selanne -- achieved the feat. Elias notes that Laine became the fourth player in the NHL's modern era (since 1943-44) to earn multiple hat tricks within his first 14 career games. The others: Bernie Federko (1976-77), Bernie Nichols (1981-82) and Bob Gaudreau (1992-93). score at least 11 goals in his first 14 NHL games since 1992-93, when three players -- including Teemu Selanne -- achieved the feat. Laine also became the fourth player in NHL history to score multiple hat tricks before celebrating his 19th birthday, joining Toronto's Jack Hamilton (1943-44), Winnipeg's Dale Hawerchuk (1981-82) and Vancouver's Trevor Linden (1988-89).

• Las Vegas will announce its name and logo during an event at Toshiba Plaza in Las Vegas on Nov. 22. Among those expected to attend are NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Las Vegas owner Bill Foley. Las Vegas was granted a franchise June 23 to become the 31st NHL team and will begin play next season. The expansion draft will be held June 18-20, 2017 and the selections will be announced June 21. Foley had said Oct. 8 that the name would be the Desert Knights, Silver Knights or Golden Knights, and that the colors will include gray, gold and a red-rock hue from the Nevada landscape.
• Marek Svatos, a right wing who played seven NHL seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators, died Saturday at the age of 34. Selected by the Avalanche in the seventh round (No. 227) of the 2001 NHL Draft, Svatos had 100 goals and 172 points in 344 games, 316 with the Avalanche. He last played in the NHL in 2010-11 with the Senators. Avalanche executive vice president and general manager Joe Sakic played with Svatos in Colorado from 2003-09. Svatos had NHL career highs of 32 goals and 50 points in 61 games as a rookie in 2005-06 before sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury. He had 26 goals in 62 games in 2007-08 until a knee injury kept him out of the final 16 games. • The story of USA Hockey's Try Hockey For Free program began more than 10 years ago, when it collaborated with the NHL, the NHL Players' Association and equipment manufacturers to brainstorm ideas on how to get children new to hockey to try it without the initial cost of spending money on equipment. The mission statement was simple: Provide kids with an experience that will inspire and motivate them to play the game, and for parents to get involved growing it at the grassroots level. Seven years ago, USA Hockey held its first Try Hockey For Free Day at the University of Denver, where more than 100 kids participated in two one-hour sessions. From there, the program evolved to sessions in 10 facilities across Connecticut before expanding into the rest of New England. Pat Kelleher, USA Hockey's assistant executive director of membership development, knew he was on to something. "We looked at that and said, 'We put a lot of time, effort and resources into one location. How do we make this bigger?'" Kelleher said. Entering its seventh season, Try Hockey For Free Day is bigger and better; a record total of nearly 500 locations will host events Saturday as part of Come Play Hockey Month. The initiative has introduced the sport to more than 116,000 children between ages 4 and 9 in the past six seasons from every state except Hawaii, and it continues to grow thanks to momentum generated from the support of the League and its 30 teams. The growth of hockey in the United States also is significant. The team that won gold at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics had players from four states: Massachusetts, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. Today, three times as many are producing players at the highest level, and players who have competed in the IIHF World Junior Championship have come from at least 10 states. The term "non-traditional hockey market" has become obsolete. The game is thriving in the Sun Belt, which received a bigger boost when Scottsdale, Arizona, native Auston Matthews excelled playing for the U.S. in numerous tournaments and the Swiss National League A before the Toronto Maple Leafs selected him with the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft; Matthews was the first U.S.-born player to be chosen No. 1 since Patrick Kane by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2007.
