• The Anaheim Ducks traded forwardMichael Sgarbossa to the Florida Panthers for forward Logan Shaw on Wednesday. Sgarbossa, 24, had two assists in nine games with the Ducks this season, and has three points in 19 games with them and the Colorado Avalanche over four seasons. Shaw, 24, has not played in the NHL this season. • DefensemanBrent Burns signed an eight-year contract with the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. Financial terms were not released, but the contract is worth $64 million, an average annual value of $8 million, according to ESPN.com. Burns, 31, would have become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. Burns was a finalist for the Norris Trophy as the League's best defenseman last season, when he had 75 points (27 goals, 48 assists), all NHL career highs. The Sharks lost a six-game series to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final. Injuries

• Tucson Roadrunners captain Craig Cunningham is in critical but stable condition after collapsing prior to an American Hockey League game against Manitoba at Tucson Convention Center on Saturday, Arizona Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said Monday. Cunningham, a forward who played 10 games for the Coyotes last season, collapsed and was on his back while medical personnel cut away his jersey before moving him off the ice, according to Tucson.com. He was taken to a hospital and received treatment. The game was postponed. Cunningham, 26, was a fourth-round pick (No. 97) by the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL Draft. He has three goals and five assists in 63 NHL games with the Bruins and Coyotes. • Carolina Hurricanes goaltenderEddie Lack was placed on injured reserve Monday with a concussion. The Hurricanes recalled goalie Michael Leighton from Charlotte of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis after Lack sustained the concussion at practice Monday. Lack, 28, is 1-2-1 with a 3.78 goals-against average and .856 save percentage in five games this season, and is 13-16-7 with a 2.92 GAA and .896 save percentage in 39 games with Carolina since being acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on June 27, 2015. https://www.nhl.com/news/hurricanes-place-goalie-eddie-lack-on-injured-reserve/c-283974218
• New York Rangers centerMika Zibanejad sustained a broken fibula during overtime Sunday and will miss the next 6-8 weeks, coach Alain Vigneault said following a 3-2 shootout loss against the Florida Panthers at Madison Square Garden. Zibanejad was injured 41 seconds into overtime when his feet got tangled with Panthers forward Reilly Smith's feet and he fell awkwardly into the boards. His left foot jammed into the boards and it caused his leg to buckle. Zibanejad scored his fifth goal of the season in the second period. • Washington Capitals forwardJ. Oshie will be out week to week with an upper-body injury sustained in the first period of a 1-0 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Verizon Center on Friday. Washington played with nine forwards for most of the game against Detroit. • Arizona Coyotes forwardBrad Richardson is expected to make a full recovery after having surgery on his broken leg Friday. "After consultation with our athletic trainers, medical staff and doctors in Vancouver, it was determined that Brad would require surgery to repair his fractured tibia and fibula bones in his (right) leg," Coyotes general manager John Chayka said in a statement. "Brad's surgery went very well today, and we are confident that he will make a full recovery. He will be out of the lineup indefinitely." The 31-year-old fell awkwardly after a hit by Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Tryamkin with 8:37 left in the second period of Arizona's 3-2 overtime loss. Richardson remained on the ice for several minutes before being taken off on a stretcher and to the hospital. • Forward Thomas Hertl has left the San Jose Sharks road trip and returned to California for an MRI, CSN Bay Area reported Friday. Hertl seemed to injure his right knee in the second period of a 3-2 loss at the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. Hertl had four goals and five assists (nine points) in 17 games this season. Last season ended in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins when he injured the same knee.

• Los Angeles Kings centerJeff Carter, Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward and Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending Nov. 20. Carter paced the NHL with three game-winning tallies - and also tied for the League lead with four total goals (4-2-6) - in four outings to propel the Kings (10-9-1, 21 points) into a share of first place, in terms of points, in the Pacific Division. Ward went 3-0-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average, .964 save percentage and one shutout to help the Hurricanes (7-6-4, 18 points) complete a perfect week and extend his, as well as the team's, overall winning streak to four games. • 11/18 According toa report by 98.5 Sports in Montreal, Carolina Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos wants to get his money out of the team, even if it means the ‘Canes are sold and relocated. Today’s report comes on the heels of an apparent settlement in the lawsuit involving Karmanos and his three sons — a settlement that could make a sale more likely. The question all along has been whether Karmanos can find a new owner that’s willing to keep the team in Raleigh. Karmanos, who moved the franchise from Hartford in 1997, has guaranteed that “the Hurricanes will not become the Nordiques.” But the 73-year-old has also been trying to sell the team for quite some time. “I’m looking for the proper way to make sure the team has continuity, hopefully with people in North Carolina,” he said in 2014. Like Karmanos, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has insisted that the ‘Canes are not going anywhere. The relocation speculation is only natural, however, when Quebec City has a brand new arena with no team, while at the same time Carolina is sitting dead last in NHL attendance (11,189). http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2016/11/18/report-karmanos-wants-to-sell-canes-even-if-it-means-relocation/
• Followup: Thanks to a report out of Montreal on Friday afternoon the Carolina Hurricanes relocation rumors have started to surface once again. It has not taken long for the Hurricanes to respond and do their part to silence them, at least for now. Hurricanes president Don Waddell said on Friday night, via Chip Alexander of the News & Observer, that “any relocation rumor is false and that nothing has changed from a year ago.” He also added that team owner Peter Karmanos has not turned down an offer for the team and that the financial health of the team is in its best shape ever. This response was prompted after 98.5 sports in Montreal reported earlier in the day that Karmanos is looking to get his money out of the team and sell it, even if that means the team relocates.

KHL Minute:

• The eagerly-awaited third instalment of the Army Derby produced a blistering game full of rapid changes in fortune. Goals came in groups as both sides saw their fortunes ebb and flow before SKA skated to victory 6-3.
• The 2017 Week of Hockey Stars enjoys its grand finale on Sunday,the 22nd, with a tournament contested by four teams of the finest stars of the KHL. Each team will represent one of the League’s divisions and will have a roster of 11 players - one goaltender, nine skaters, plus one of the four best youngsters from the MHL Challenge Cup. The tournament comprises two semi-finals followed by a final, with games played to a 4-on-4 format, switching to 3-on-3 if the match progresses to overtime.

• What sorcery is this? Or maybe it's camera tricks? Either way the San Jose Sharks won the mannequin challenge Friday, posting a video of numerous bobbleheads remaining perfectly still (HOW???). The video included (completely still) bobbleheads of Sharks players, mascots and even featured Dwight Schrute of "The Office," a minion from "Despicable Me" and a Chia head. But it ends with a shot of a Joe Pavelski "Starting Lineup" action figure straight out of the 1990s.
