• Ken Hitchcock was fired as coach of the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday and replaced by associate coach Mike Yeo. "Obviously it's a difficult day for myself," general manager Doug Armstrong said. "I made a ... hard decision to change coaches. Mike will take over. I'm excited about that. It's a great day for Mike, a rebirth now for this group of players. ... We're excited." Goaltending coach Jim Corsi also was fired. Assistant general manager Martin Brodeur and goalie development coach Ty Conklin would fill that role for the remainder of the season. Hitchcock was 248-124-41 in six seasons with the Blues, and 20-27 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Blues finished first or second in the Central Division in each of Hitchcock's four full seasons. • The New York Islanders agreed to terms with goaltenderThomas Greiss on a three-year contract Monday. The contract is worth $10 million, Newsday reported. Greiss, who turned 31 on Sunday, is 14-7-3 with a 2.25 goals-against average and .928 save percentage in 25 games this season. He could have become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Greiss signed a two-year, $3 million contract with the Islanders on July 1, 2015. • Pittsburgh Penguins forward Conor Sheary will miss 4-6 weeks with an upper-body injury. Sheary, who plays left wing on the top line with Sidney Crosby, did not practice Wednesday after having one assist in 16:52 in a 4-2 win against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. • Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov, Boston Bruins left wing Brad Marchand and San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the month of January. Kuznetsov ranked second in the NHL with 7-13-20 in 15 games to power the League-leading Capitals (33-11-6, 72 points) to a 12-2-1 January. Marchand led the NHL with 11-9-20 in 14 games (and 2 slew foots) to guide the Bruins (26-21-6, 58 points) to a 6-6-2 January. • Toronto Maple Leafs centerMitchell Marner, who led all rookies with 11 assists and 15 points in 13 games, has been named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for January. Simmonds earned MVP honors at Sunday's 2017 Honda NHL All-Star Game and also registered two goals in two contests earlier in the week with the Flyers (25-19-6, 56 points). Marleau led the NHL with five goals and six points in three games to power the Pacific Division-leading Sharks (31-17-2, 64 points) to a pair of wins. Andersen earned two shutouts in as many appearances, stopping all 48 shots he faced, to propel the Maple Leafs (23-15-9, 55 points) to two victories in three contests.

• Nolan Patrick, No. 1 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm ranking of North American skaters eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft, had two assists to help Team Don Cherry to a 7-5 win against Team Bobby Orr in the 22nd CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at Videotron Centre on Monday. Patrick, who plays for Brandon of the Western Hockey League, has eight goals and nine assists in 11 games this season. Halifax center Nico Hischier, who is ranked No. 2, had a goal, two assists and finished 8-for-14 on faceoffs for Team Orr. Hischier was named MVP for his team. Patrick won 12 of 16 faceoffs. • You've heard ofthe emergency backup goalie. Courtney Daniels was the emergency backup singer. The Los Angeles Kings ice crew member made the save of the day. Pop group Fifth Harmony was supposed to sing the Star-Spangled Banner before the 2017 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, but a group member fell ill so they canceled. With roughly 10 minutes notice, Daniels was told she would go on. No rehearsal. No warmup. In front of a packed house at the Staples Center, Daniels absolutely crushed. "I felt so honored and was so excited and I really wanted to help any way that I could," Daniels told the Los Angeles Kings website. "I kinda looked around at everyone. I wanted to take in every moment. I was happy the fans cheered with support." Daniels also got to present the $1 million check to the Metropolitan Division team and the MVP award to Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds. "It was such an incredible weekend to just be in the arena this weekend let alone be a part of it in such an amazing way. So, so honored.
