I’ve been telling audiences at church and ad groups about Jack Phillips for over 10 years.

I finally got to meet him... and thank him.

Jack Phillips has been fighting for free speech and religious freedom for over a decade. He’s not a lawyer… he’s not a government whistleblower… he’s a baker.

Jack owns a small bakery in Colorado and has been fighting to keep his shop open for the past 10 years.

What was his crime?

Jack would not create a custom wedding cake for a same-sex couple who were getting married. They could buy a cake from him, but it would violate his conscious and Christian faith to customize something he disagreed with.

They sued him, and he’s been battling the case (and several others) with the help of the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services for people like Jack.

In this week’s podcast, Shelly and I sat down for a special interview with Jack and his attorney from ADF.

The first thing Shelly and I wanted to know was how his case was doing and how a 10-year court battle affected his faith and family?

“It’s made us stronger” Jack said, “and brought us together as a family. We have other lawsuits that we are fighting… We win one, and then the State of Colorado brings another suit. It’s never been about not serving people—we’re happy to serve everyone… but there are certain custom cake designs we can’t do—the ones that go against our religious beliefs, like a cake celebrating same-sex marriages or a cake celebrating someone’s sex change…”

Anyone listening to this insightful podcast will benefit from what Jack Phillips has to say.

Here are just a few of the topics we discuss during the podcast:

  • State and local “anti-discrimination” laws that actually discriminate against Christians
  • Activist judges legislating from the bench
  • The attack on religious small business owners
  • Defending free speech and religious freedom
  • How we can fight back

This man is a true Christian hero, who stood firm against injustice and religious freedom. I’m thankful… America should be thankful for his courage.

The podcast touches on these topics and so much more.

The Interview is about 10 minutes long.
