Throughout history people had shared narratives. Mythology was written from the perspective of the collective, not the individual. David Gornoski shares his thoughts on memetic desire, the scapegoat mechanism, and how the Gospel of Jesus Christ informs the narratives of today’s media and communication. The political left is visionary and utopian, while mimicking the aesthetics of Christianity it turns towards sacrificial violence. The political right is reactionary and claims the metaphysical realm of Christianity, but mimics the traditions of paganism through State authority. Christ is the true author of liberty, his personhood is the root of individualism and his sacrifice deconstructs politics.
