This week on The Italian Radio Hour - "Denominazione di Origine Inventata" with Prof. Alberto Grandi.
The title of the book "Denomination of Invented Origin" is in net contrast with one of Italy's most recognizable food & wine classification of food or wines (DOP - Denominazione di Origine Protetta (literally “Protected Designation of Origin).
Prof. Grandi debunks the many myths around the provenance and the origin of many of ingredients and recipes that Italians hold dear to their hearts.
"Carbonara is an American recipe, Tortellini were filled with chicken, Queen Margherita probably never had pizza in her life, and so on".
Give it a listen and let us know your thoughts!
