What happened to my passion for Jesus? Why do I not feel enthusiastic about my faith anymore? How do I rediscover it? The world is full of things vying for our passion. Yet, the earth is temporary. How tragic would it be if we spent all the time we have on this earth pursuing a passion for something that matters not in light of eternity. In this episode Jacob Kersey talks to Jeff Dawsey and Tim Smith about the fight against indifference and the fight for passion. Not passion for work, not passion for food, not passion for a boyfriend/girlfriend, or spouse. I want to talk about passion for your faith, for Jesus.
Our battleplan to regain or discover our passion for Jesus:
1. Reading the Word. Faith comes by hearing and that’s not just at conversion. It is an everyday thing
“Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ.” -Romans 10:17 NET
2. Pray and examine yourself. Have others examine you.
“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.” -2 Corinthians 13:5 NLT
3. Walk with others who desire a closer relationship with Jesus.
“And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” -Acts 2:46-47 ESV
