Irvington New Jersey Police Director Joseph Santiago suspended Irvington Police Chief Michael Chase for twelve days. According to published reports Irvington Police Director Joseph Santiago issued an emergency suspension on May 24, 2012. After a 12-day suspension with pay Police Chief Michael Chase was returned to duty. But what serious infraction was committed to justify the suspension of Irvington’s Police Chief? Was this suspension legal? Joseph Santiago was the police director of the Newark New Jersey Police Department, and in control of the disciplinary process, when Police Officer Darren Nance was unlawfully terminated. Was this suspension of the Irvington Police Chief also unlawful?
