We talked about how Engine feeds and develops the creative community in Biddeford, how her personal experiences led her to her current position, the skills she has picked up along the way (including welding), inspiration, and more!

An artist, nonprofit leader, and arts advocate, Jess Muise is passionate about helping people make the world they imagine through transformative experiences in creative community. Currently leading Engine in Biddeford, Maine, a nonprofit organization inspiring and connecting community through art, design, and education, her experience includes more than a decade of outreach, fundraising, marketing, program & facility management and strategic planning at the intersection of arts and economy. As an artist, she has volunteered for various artist-led collaborative workspaces and advocacy initiatives. With a deep background in movement practices, her creative work has focused on bringing dance making into public space, performing in parking lots, fields, rooftops and breweries.
