Hello and welcome to the first episode! I discuss the theme of this podcast and its unusual name. I tell a story about a group of surgeons that greatly affected my life back in 1974. I give reflections on heart surgery at 11 years old. This podcast will celebrate the uniqueness of the western world. I speak broadly about its history, its contributions to mankind as well as the challenges that it's currently facing.
