The Supreme Court on June 27, 2024 issued its long awaited decision in Harrington v. Purdue Pharma L.P., holding 5-4 that a Chapter 11 plan of reorganization that releases claims against nondebtors without the consent of the claimants is prohibited by the Bankruptcy Code. Come hear the petitioner himself, William K. Harrington, United States Trustee for the New England states and New York, discuss the opinion with other experts and consider its likely effects on future Chapter 11 practice.
