October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in this episode my guest is Rita Smith, a nationally recognized expert in domestic violence. Rita has been interviewed by hundreds of newspaper reporters and have appeared on many news platforms including People Magazine, NPR, The Washington Post, USA Today, Good Morning America and The Oprah WInfrey Show to name a few.

Issues that impact women and children has been her life's work. She currently serves as senior advisor to the National Football League, advising on policy and training issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault. She also serves as executive director of Victim Services for e-BodyGuard and is a consultant for DomesticShelters.org.

In this episode we discuss some of the warning signs to look for, common misconceptions about domestic violence, how to get help, resources and more.
