This Friday’s interview is the 22nd installment in the Self-Construction Block of podcasts. It will center on the theme 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬! Our interviewer will share her perspective on the grind and mentality it takes to secure dreams!⁣

⁣⁣This Friday’s guest on @theliberatorspodcast is Rache’l C. Oatis @ratedrachelco. ⁣

⁣Rachel C. Oatis is determined to equip and educate the next generation of leaders in rural communities that are similar to her hometown of Louisiana. She aspires to fix the educational achievement gap in the South through corporate social responsibility. In her senior year of high school, she created the St. James Parish Youth Commission, an organization committed to bridging the gap between local elected officials and young people in her community. ⁣

⁣Oatis completed her undergraduate studies at Spelman College with a B.A. in Political Science in May 2018. While at Spelman, Oatis was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, attended American University for a domestic exchange experience, and worked heavily with campus leaders in the Office of Religious life to give leadership to campus-wide religious and spiritual programs. She has held positions at the Washington National Cathedral, the District Office of Congressman John Lewis and Congressional Office of Congressman Cedric Richmond, and student researcher with the Civil Rights Restorative Justice Project (CRRJ) at Northeastern University School of Law. ⁣

⁣Currently, Oatis is an HBCU Fellow pursuing a M.S. degree in Nonprofit Management at Columbia University School of Professional Studies (SPS) and is expected to complete her studies in December 2019. At Columbia University, she has served as the host and one of the Curation Officers of the 2019 TEDxColumbiaUniversity, led her academic program during the graduation processional as a Commencement Student Marshal, and was the recipient of the Bill Campbell leadership Award for SPS. ⁣

⁣Oatis is a godmother and enjoys conducting oral history interviews, shopping for eyewear, and spending time with her family.⁣
