There is no post-Christmas letdown in New Orleans. That's because on January 6th the final day of Christmas, also known as twelfth night, the official start of Carnival season begins and goes till the day before Ash Wednesday or the first day of Lent. On the day before Ash Wednesday New Orleans descends into a chaotic flurry of crowds and colorful masks all in celebration of Mardi Gras (the last day of the Carnival celebration) and also known as "Fat Tuesday."

Music is a key component to the carnival season and to New Orleans life in general and there have been many artists throughout the years that have lifted up the Mardi Gras spirit in their music and on today’s show in honor of Mardi Gras Day on March 1st this year, we are (figuratively) going to down to New Orleans to give you our favorite Mardi Gras inspired songs.
