Amy J. Schmitz, holding the John Deaver Drinko-Baker & Hostetler Endowed Chair in Law at Moritz, is a distinguished scholar specializing in arbitration, legal tech, and dispute resolution. She co-directs the Translational Data Analytics Institute and leads the JusticeTech Capstone Program. Author of over 75 articles and co-author of key casebooks, Schmitz has received numerous awards for her contributions to technology, law, and dispute resolution. Her latest book, "The Arbitration Conversation," and her highly regarded podcast delve into the intersection of arbitration and technology. Before Ohio State, Schmitz taught at the University of Missouri and the University of Colorado, clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, and practiced arbitration law in Seattle and Minneapolis. Schmitz's accolades include the AALS Section Award for Technology, Law and Legal Education, and she is a Fulbright Specialist and member of the American Law Institute.
