You don’t need gas when you drive an EV, so you’re not paying gas taxes. And that’s how most states fund their road repairs and construction. So many states want EV drivers to pay a fee that replaces the gas tax money. But experts say that won’t help. People aren’t driving as much, and their vehicles get better gas mileage these days, so they’re using less gas and paying fewer taxes. Many roads and bridges are in bad shape, and states need more funds to fix them…
