It's so easy to look back at who we were in the past and be critical or unkind but we have the option to write a story where we are kind to our past selves and they are kind to us. The same is true when we think of who we will be in the future. Think about having a conversation with your future self. What do you think they would say to you? Would it be words of criticism or encouragement?
