Is “biblical womanhood” actually biblical? Dr. Beth Allison Barr, Professor of History and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at Baylor University, joins the boys as she shares how her research in European Women, Medieval & Early Modern England, and Church History has revealed the dark side of gender theology throughout the history of the Church. In her new book, The Making of Biblical Womanhood, Dr. Barr shows how certain movements within the church have convinced followers of Jesus that to be a woman is to be a second-class citizen, unable to faithfully serve the body of Christ in the same ways that men can. Unlike what these theological narratives may claim, these gender distinctions are not true to the gospel message, but instead reveal a modern resurgence of the sin of patriarchy.
