[note: posting tiktok about this tomorrow]. When you drink alcohol, the alcohol is converted into acetaldehyde, which is harmful to our body. Our liver has enzymes to process this acetaldehyde into non-toxic by-products, but our stomach does not. So, Zbiotics created a drink with genetically engineered microbes that contain these enzymes, which then gives your stomach the ability to process the acetaldehyde, therefore preventing a hangover! I was shocked at how good I felt the next morning after using this. In this episode, we talk about the Zbiotics product, the early days of the company, future products they want to create, and the field of synthetic biology more broadly. This was super fun, I hope you enjoy it, and be sure to use code 'NASJAQ' for 10% and tweet at me how it works for you!!
