Earlier on today, water and sanitation ministry briefed the media on departmental plans and priorities. During the briefing, Minister Pemmy Majodian revealed that since being sworn in on 3 July, her office has been inundated with calls and messages from the public and local and provincial political leaders regarding challenges with water and sanitation service delivery at local level. She however made it clear that only the municipalities can resolve South Africa’s water issues. So what’s the role of the department then in tackling water crisis in South Africa?
